What they say

We feel passionately about using recycled textiles. Each year 1.5 million tonnes of fabric goes into landfill, a result of the fast fashion culture. If we can use this resource to make unique stylish fashion, we are doing our bit to reduce landfill, promote what is possible with recycled textiles and breath new life into textiles, stylishly, of course. It's our commitment to DEFRA's Sustainable Clothing Action Plan.

TRAIDremade Bio

Traid, stands for Textile Recycling for Aid and International Development, and the UK based textile registered charity aim to protect the environment by diverting clothes and shoes from landfill, reduce world poverty by raising funds for overseas development projects; and educate the UK public on environmental and world poverty issues.

Traid operates over 900 textile recycling banks across the UK, and from these and donated fabrics their remade team busily create great reworked pieces for their stores from their hub in Brighton. We at Fashion-conscience.com wanted to create a collection that was 100% eco and ethical, and made in the UK to lower carbon footprint, and approached TRAID, with this in mind.

As dedicated eco fashionistas, the opportunity to use recycled and donated fabrics to create up to the minute, unique pieces was too good to ignore. The collection is inspired by catwalk and street trends and the fabrics and hardware itself and ranges from capes, to party dresses, to handbags and jewellery.
