Clogs? Fashion madness we hear you think. Well, yes, if we are talking Crocs - the sartorial equivalent of wearing ice cream tubs on your feet. But vintage, beautifully worn leather clogs? Now we’re talking. We have had a strange obsession with finding vintage clogs for a wee while now. Let us explain.
1 - They look amazing with ribbed socks - you might think this is a look strictly for fashion mag editorial but wear said ribbed socks with black tights and culottes? He heh? Now you are seeing the look! Yon can get Ribbed Organic Ankle Socks from Beaumont Organic or even Ribbed Organic Cotton Tights here.
2 - Get the right style - ie with heels - and they make you taller (always a bonus) but maintain a homely, hip, straight out of the corn fields feel and go weirdly well with the check shirts which have been doing the rounds as part of the punk/gothic trend.
3 - They are just cool! No one else will have them, natch.
4 - Bonus point - they are bargainous. We’ve spotted some for about the $50/£25 mark.
5 - Naturally vintage = eco. And clogs are made from natural materials - leather and wood and metal studs. No messing.
Take a look at these beauties we found on Etsy. See how fabulous they are!?
We adore Liv Tyler, ever since we interviewed her a few years ago, and she complimented us on our dress. She knows how to make a girl heart her - go straight to the sartorial air kisses! So we were hugely chuffed to see her picking an Eco label to wear at an awards ceremony last weekend. Liv Tyler picked the current celeb favourite Doucette Duvall - and one of our favourite designs - the ‘Mer’ dress, in black. Ok, we stock this dress, but heart it hugely, even almost wearing it to a friends wedding in Ibiza last month, but instead opting for vintage Anna Sui instead.
Liv totally does the dress justice, a cocktail dress with a bit of rock and roll going on, just like her. If you want to see more on Doucette Duvall see our other postings on it and it’s celeb followers, and check out the Eco collection, exclusive to us in the UK.
